Company Description

The Middelveen Farms Ltd properties on Harris Rd and Rippington Rd were acquired by Wolter Middelveen in 1956 after he sold his 5 acre farm on Kerr Road in Vancouver and moved 'out to the country'. He had to walk his horse 'Mutt' all the way from Vancouver to Pitt Meadows, which took all day (he had to stop for lunch to let the horse rest). Originally the farm was a Dairy/Cattle operation, but as Wolter got older, he built a greenhouse and went into the cut flower business. He did well, winning a trophy at the PNE for having won the most trophies for his cut flowers. Fred took over the farm in 1989 after he retired from the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and converted the farm to blueberries, calling it Middelveen Blueberry Farm. Tom and Kerry joined the farm in 2010 after they retired from the RCAF and the farm was incorporated as Middelveen Farms Ltd.
