New to boating on large, lower mainland lakes and rivers with a family inherited 1992 Malibu boat Mercruiser engine which had always been well taken care of, we wanted to be absolutely sure we our boat would readily start and be in good mechanical order. Already knowing we had a carburetor issue, Dakota and his staff gave us a thorough assessment of our engine’s needs and after a couple of days to attain parts and do the work, they had tested the boat on the river and we were ready for adventure. Off we went, and our boat started and ran like a dream on Alouette Lake until we turned it off and it wouldn’t restart. We had purchased a brand new battery earlier in January from elsewhere so we never dreamed it would be the problem. We phoned Dakota on our way into town and he immediately offered to take us in to figure out our issue. It was discovered that our battery only had a 23% charge and even after putting it on their charger overnight, it registered at 75%. We returned our battery, bought one from Haney Marine at only a $13 difference in price, and after a slight adjustment on the carburetor and another retest in the river they sent us on our way the next day with no further charge. This is the kind of service that gives us confidence that we’re dealing with a fair, skilled, and competent team. 5 days later we toured to the end of Alouette Lake again, with a boat that readily started and ran really well. Next week we’re off to explore Stave Lake and we know we’re set for our annual time on Shuswap Lake this summer worry free. Great guys, skilled troubleshooters, and willing to stand behind their work. We noted they were working on boats much larger than ours and obviously used for commercial purposes. We highly recommend them for your marine engine and trailer maintenance needs.
